WILD WEAVING
WEAVING WILLOW TENSION TRAYS
Join us for a fun 3-hour afternoon workshop to learn how to weave willow tension trays from locally foraged wild willow!
Willow weaving is a craft that many peoples around the earth have utilized throughout time as an art and utility for daily living. Nearly all of our ancestors would have woven willow at some point in their lives.
In this workshop, learn the ancient art of weaving with willow and learn to craft a tension tray to cook on, serve with or simply decorate with. These trays are not only functional but also echo the beauty and simplicity of handmade artistry.

Your Guide:
Mandy Bishop is a ritual artist, medicine maker, nature-based guide and mentor. She’s a perpetual student of these ancient ways and ancestral lifeways. Born on the front range of Colorado (lands of the Arapaho, Cheyenne and Ute peoples), she is deeply connected to the mountains and the wild places, and when not tending her garden might be found foraging, crafting or jumping into wild waters.
She’s also the founder of Old Ways Wisdom—a place to bridge the gap of disconnect in these wild times by rekindling the old ways and fostering relationship with the land, our bodies, and the ancient wisdom in our bones through deep storywork and ancestral skills. Mandy’s had the amazing privilege of learning these ancient skills like weaving from many different elders, incredible teachers, and through spending time with Indigenous tribes in various places.
Mandy’s been in relationship with willow for many years, continually delving more and more into how to harvest, prepare and weave wild wonders.
