Full sun. Opening to the sky. Birdsong and scent of rose at dawn. The poppies sway and hummingbirds fly.
Facing South, we walk together as women, with our dreams gathered gently held with soft hands. We walk together as women to tell stories, to dance, to let the light in. We walk together as women to create and to make, to give thanks and give back.
The Medicine Wheel is an ancient way people from all different walks of life have mapped out time, seasons and phases of growth. It is a map of the four directions, each of which have special qualities. Each direction is associated with a color, a rhythm, a season, a time of day, a phase of a person’s life. Each are kept by different plant and animal allies. Each have messages for us and lessons to teach.
Join in this circle of women as we turn to face the South direction in this season of fullness and gratitude. We’ll walk together listening to the land and our own wisdom. Through journeying, poetry, and making art with the land, we’ll find our way back to what’s important for us.
We’ll gather objects as we walk and make an earth altar—a gift of ourselves, our hands and our hearts to give back to the one who keeps us. Please bring seeds or dried flowers if you’d like to make an offering.
